Opole is a town in southern Poland, just a few kilometres from the border with the Czech Republic. Utech, an official FAE dealer for many years, is based here.
'We love to cooperate with the best machine manufacturers in the world,' says owner Jarosław Koenig. 'We offer our customers, especially professional contractors, state-of-the-art technical solutions and quality service for uncompromising reliability.'
Founded in 1996, Utech offers machines, parts and service for the following sectors: general construction, road construction, drilling, mining, municipalities, energy, forestry, biomass, agriculture and horticulture.

For years, it has marketed FAE Land Clearing and Construction models, such as soil stabilizers, on the Polish market. Recently, it has also added FAE road planers for skid steer loaders and excavators to its range. In November 2025, Utech organized a visit to a road construction site near its headquarters in Opole, in cooperation with the local company BEST-OPEBEL, to conduct field tests on the RPL/EX and evaluate its performance. |
Michal Lipa, FAE's brand sales manager, tells us how it went. “Let's start by saying that the weather was not kind! We tested the RPL/EX in the snow, as can be seen in the video we shot at the time. At Utech, we sell two models of FAE road planer for excavators. The first is the RPL/HY, which is suitable for excavators weighing between 5 and 8 tons. It has a working depth of 11.5 cm and a working width of 30 cm. For our demonstration, however, we chose the RPL/EX model, which is suitable for excavators weighing between 8 and 14 tonnes. This model has a working depth of 13.5 cm and a working width of 45 cm. The customer took us to the area to be treated and demonstrated the machine working to a depth of 5 cm along an 8-metre-long, 3.4-metre-wide section of asphalt. The operator told us that it took him 20 minutes to complete the job.
They decided to buy the RPL/EX specifically for small jobs like this, to avoid having to transport their heavier models to the construction site each time. This saves on transportation costs and the time needed to transport such bulky equipment”, says Michal.

The RPL/EX can quickly and easily be combined with the excavator and transported to the job site, and it performs well. From a technical point of view, the machine has hydraulic depth adjustment capability, which the operator can easily control using a graduated scale ranging from 0 to 14 cm. |

We asked Michal for a quick customer comment on the RPL/EX.
“The customer appreciated the convenience and speed of the work, as well as the resulting lower labor costs, which meant savings. Until now, they had to transport a self-propelled milling machine in a large truck for small asphalt cuts. Now, they transport the FAE road planer to the work site in a van and attach it to an excavator on site. This significantly reduces time and costs.
Often, there is no room to maneuver a self-propelled milling machine at the work site. It is too tight. This type of work is much more convenient with a road planer attached to an excavator”, he concludes.
The smaller, the better!
