FAE renews the RPL/SSL road planer for skid steers: from a new compact layout to a universal interface.

FAE introduces the new generation of RPL/SSL road planers for 60 to 135 hp skid steers, featuring a number of innovations that boost performance, increase reliability in challenging conditions, and simplify operation.

First, the new compact layout increases precision and speed on worksites during operation along walls, manholes and hatches. The crank system that operates the movable sides has been significantly reduced in size, and the entire profile of the machine has been lowered as much as possible to improve visibility. To reduce the attachment’s footprint, the entire hydraulic system has been removed from the SAE frame and integrated directly into the attachment frame, making use of all available space.

A side-shift system has also been developed, allowing for attachment positioning beyond the tracks on the left and right and enabling work flush against walls on both sides. Additionally, the dual cutting indicator, positioned at the front and rear of the rotor, facilitates work close to obstacles, such as manholes or curbs, with extreme precision and full control.

Another development concerns the electrical interface. Designed for fast, simple connection with all major skid steer brands, the new RPL/SSL features an internal circuit board and can be connected to the skid steer’s electrical connector via a simple interface cable, without modifying the vehicle’s wiring.

The limited numbers of physical buttons available on carrier joysticks spurred the development of an innovative switch-control management system, which consists of an electronic control unit inside the road planer and an LED-equipped control panel. Positioned so that it is clearly visible from the cab, this control panel allows operators to easily identify the active function.

With these new features, the RPL/SSL ange now offers two configuration options.

The BASIC version includes a hydraulic motor, hydraulic side shifting functionality, mechanical skid depth adjustment which can be performed with a wrench or power tool, and tilt management via a mechanical shock absorber. An essential machine for the most common tasks.

The PLUS version includes hydraulic tilt, hydraulic adjustment of skid depth, hydraulic side shifting, a water spray system, and an SAE attachment frame with integrated water tank. A complete machine for customers with the most demanding projects.
