Recycling, Wiederherstellung und Instandhaltung des Straßenbelags sind bei der Unterhaltung der Straßeninfrastruktur von strategischer Bedeutung. Ganz besonders in den USA, wo Tausende von Straßenkilometern extremen Klimabedingungen ausgesetzt sind.

Diese Geschichte führt uns nach New Jersey, wo die Firma A. Deluca Reclamation seit Jahren in kleinen und mittleren Projekten im Bereich der Sanierung und Stabilisierung beschädigter Straßenbeläge tätig ist.

Die Firma A. Deluca Reclamation setzt seit 2016 FAE Maschinen ein, genauer gesagt eine RSL 225, und zwar genau für das Recycling des Straßenbelags. Die FAE RSL ist eine Multifunktionsfräse für Traktoren von 80 bis 190 PS, mit der Gelände stabilisiert, Steine zerkleinert und Fels und Asphalt gefräst werden können. „Ich schätze besonders den Mehrwert, den mir meine FAE beim Recycling bietet“, so John Deluca, Miteigentümer von A. Deluca Reclamation. „Diese Maschine zerkleinert den abgenutzten Asphalt, der dann in anderen Projekten recycelt werden kann.“

Die Firma Deluca ist auf die „Full Depth Reclamation“ spezialisiert, ein Verfahren zur Wiederherstellung des Straßenbelags, bei dem der bestehende Belag und die darunter liegende Schicht zu einer neuen Tragschicht recycelt werden.

Der Prozess beginnt mit dem Einsatz einer Fräse zur Pulverisierung des bestehenden verschlissenen Belags, der dann mit einem Teil der Asphalttragschicht, der Schottertragschicht und manchmal auch des Planums gemischt wird, um eine einheitliche Mischung zu erhalten.

Zu dieser Mischung wird dann Portlandzement zugegeben, der als stabilisierendes Bindemittel wirkt: Das sich daraus ergebende Material wird vor Ort klassifiziert und verdichtet. Das Ergebnis ist eine feste und stabilisierte Tragschicht mit höherer Tragfähigkeit, die bereit ist, eine neue Deckschicht zu tragen.

Mit diesem Verfahren hat die Firma A. Deluca Reclamation viele Straßenkilometer in verschiedenen Gebieten New Jerseys wiederhergestellt und dabei die Stabilität und Befahrbarkeit für viele Jahre sichergestellt.
